In the scheme of decisions this Government has made regarding the PI industry this is by far the most appalling. Do they have any idea of the complexities that some so called "small claims" can involve? Don't assume value always means uncomplicated claims.

I have been a Claimant Solicitors for over 15 years and pride myself on ensuring my clients are given the best service and result they are entitled to as at the end of the day they are the innocent parties.

I don't deny that fraudulent claims occur but not the degree this Government and its friends in the insurance industry would have you believe. Lets also not forget that insurance companies over many years through legal expense cover have charged solicitors on their panels referral fees for cases they have passed to them to deal with. So they are not the innocent parties in the war against referral fees they claim to be.

I really worry about what this Government is doing to our legal system not just from a PI point of view.

Mr Osborne, litigants in person simply doesn't work. The average person in the street will have no understanding, however intelligent they are, of dealing with the court process. Also, do Judges really want the courts clogged up with people with no legal training? Imagine how they will enjoy that given how some Judges do like to spend time dressing down solicitors and barristers just for the hell of it having not been in practice themselves for so long they have no idea what the real world of running a claim is like.

I despair of this Government and the future of the PI industry.
