@David Cameron - spot on. All of this "reform of the legal profession" nonsense began with Claims Direct (In Liquidation) and the Access to Justice Act - creatures of the New Labour government - from there it was downhill all the way. Let's not be bashful about it. Also, @Peter Foreman, times have changed and practices can no longer afford £45K PI premiums. The solution is for the client to take out their own cover. If Title Insurance is used as a back-up in conveyancing, the principle needs to be extended generally. The status quo for PI is a mess and requires urgent change. There should be legislative change requiring clients to take out their own cover. And the sooner the better.
