"..The MP was rude and aggressive and wanted to now what statute I was relying on, and without asking anything about the case, said he was reporting me to my regulatory authority and also writing to the court! .."

What you want to do is advise everyone that comes to you who could have benefitted from Legal Aid in the past, that although that MP is responsible for the institution that has abolished it, they put in places through the Insurers' and Banks' Legal 'Services' Act 1998, careful protection that now allows that MP to act as their lawyer' free under the Legal Aid Scheme that MP's can now deliver, (because it abolished so called monopolies of practice), and give them their constituency telephone number.

Watch the fireworks.

A lawyer I knew once did that and before long had the MP screaming down the phone saying that they knew he didn't offer Legal Aid .......

The MP's are I understand, apparently, very vulnerable in the right areas.
