You're absolutely right, Anon., 9.45, it does suit us all to 'get on', but does that really require us to 'jump into bed' with one another? I believe that we can 'get on' on a piecemeal basis, i e look at every issue as it arises and decide if a degree of co-operation can benefit both sides. As we are at present, we have foisted on us, whether we like it or not, such things as CAP, common fisheries policies, etc etc.

I am certainly not suggesting that we 'draw daggers' again.

And I read that Sarcosie is under investigation for overspending on his unsuccessful presidential campaign in 2012. The allegation is that he spent twice as much as he should have done. And the commentators on France Inter yesterday were all saying that they thought that it is still quite OK for him to run for president again next year even with that hanging over him... Would we, should we, stand for that?

And BTW will an 'out' vote mean we actually leave? My suspicion is that that would enable us to ask for anything that we want and they would have to give it us. And then Cameroon can claim "Victoire!" and ignore the result of the referendum. After all no one can make parliament do anything a majority of its members decides not to do, nor can it bind a successor... QED, really.
