Martin, please speak to an economist. I'm yet to find one who argues it would be economically beneficial to leave the EU, and I've spoken to many at most Golden Triangle universities.

Much opprobrium can be cast on your last argument, you talk about the 'cost of EU membership' which includes housing, education and transfers to Brussels. Just to reiterate a point made often during this thread: immigrants from the EU are an INJECTION into the UK economy. Fact. They pay more in tax than they take in benefits. Fact. To address the transfers to Brussels; its (relatively) not a lot of money. The free trade with our (historically) biggest trading partners more than makes up for this. I understand your merely pointing out the 'cost' of EU membership, but the 'cost' undoubtedly leads to a net benefit. The real question is whether leaving the EU will lead to a bigger benefit. There will still be high costs if the UK leaves, as tariffs will now have to be paid, it's just whether the benefits will outweigh them.

You admitted to being a 'philistine' with economics, hanging of the whim of Mr.Woodford, who you didn't even know. And yet you ask for others to do '"little more reading". The fact that you conceded to know nothing about economics, not even knowing WB, arguably could invalidate your 'economic' argument.
