A decent firm with a good history. The commoditisation of claims was forced upon them much like it has been everywhere else.
The fallout of a few negligence actions was inevitable - as it is for many other firms trying to break even on large numbers of cases.
The firm has gone out of business for no other reason than the pitiful costs which are fixed for most PI cases. Raleys will be followed by many more over the next 12-24 months particularly if and when the small claims limit rises to £5000. That will catch about 70-80% of most PI firms' caseloads.
That's the tragedy of it all. A good firm unable to make ends meet because of the greed of insurers and a corrupt and corporatist government.
Best of luck to all those solicitors and other fee earners who now face a very harsh employment market.
