Well said Anon 5:34, I can't believe the general denial of fraud that is being posted by claimant solicitors.

Jonathan Massey, I note you are a trainee solicitor in a claimant PI firm in Bolton. I'm genuinely surprised that you appear so keen to rubbish tales of fraud, as East Lancashire is one of the main centres of crash for cash fraud.

In fact a quick look at the listings for solicitors' firms in the area will reveal a remarkable number of small firms that have only come into existence over the past few years and whose sole business is PI claims for the local `community'.

You ask "What possible benefit is there to pursuing an obviously fraudulent claim to trial only to have the claim dismissed and significant WIP written-off?" Well of course the obvious answer is none at all. But you are overlooking the rather fundamental point that an "obviously fraudulent claim" would never be pursued to trial.

These corrupt solicitors are greedy, not stupid. They're quite happy to run a bent claim as long as they think they can get away with it, as they work (or have until recently) on the law of averages. PI work was so obscenely profitable under the old system that they could easily afford to write out office cheques for the bent claims that got discovered as they were making 10 times as much from the ones that went through successfully.

That's why they had big adverts on the side of their buildings offering £500 for a claim - though for some strange reason these seem to have vanished recently, I wonder why?

For the past 10 years or more the PI industry, in which I spent half my life has become corrupt to its very core, and it's solely due to the government in their crass stupidity abolishing legal aid and replacing it with an open chequebook for fraudsters..

I appreciate you are still a trainee, and have not spent years dealing with the tsunami of corruption that swept through the PI industry since CFA's were introduced. But at least listen to people like Anon 5:34pm who do know what they're talking about and wake up to the fact that claimant lawyers are not whiter than white.
