I am inclined to feel sorry for her but I don't think we can assume she was a model citizen up to that point.

Given that we are talking about a person who fraudulently created Court documents, isn't it more likely that this wasn't the first time she had been dishonest or made a major mistake (the fraud not the missed filing)?

If you're going to test the dishonesty water, you dip your toe in with a little lie to your client then take a ankle-deep step with an accounts fudge and so on. If this was her way of testing the water she's jumped into the Mariana Trench from a helicopter!

More likely that she was either a bad egg or not up to the job. What message would it send to other junior lawyers (and the public) if the SDT didn't strike her off?
