Simon (15:30) I'm not sure where you are getting your "insurance industry gives millions to the Tories" idea from? I'd suggest that Union backed firms like Thompsons have far more influence over the Labour Party if you are looking for conspiracy theories.

Insurance premiums have not gone down because, as is always the way, what the government giveth with one hand it taketh away with the other. (For example the huge increases in IPT in recent years). The further hike in IPT that was announced last year and the proposed changes to discount rates will ensure that, even if insurers do pass on the savings of the reforms, there will once again be no reduction in premiums in real terms.
