"...For a low value case you'd expect 1 breach expert, 1 causation expert and 1 condition and prognosis expert. Depending on the case any of those experts could deal with 1 or all aspects. ..."

On a £3000 claim, ONE expert should be more than sufficient and even then at no more than £750.00. A Registrar should really have been instructed here at half that cost (that's if you know what a Registrar is).

"...So, allow say £4,500 for initial medical evidence. "

No lets not. Lets allow a Registrar's Report at £375.00

"....Tag on some investigation work and a bit of to- and fro- with your [expert] ..."

No lets not. Let's look at this as a Fast track fixed costs claim say in the same sort of figures Barrister and Solicitor might get paid thereon (about £3000 at the most).

"...maybe £24,600 including the premium sounds about right to me. ..."

Or maybe not as aforesaid ....

"....there are many ATE insurers that will provide a premium far less than £32,000. If Thompsons are stuck to one insurer and don't advise that less expensive insurers are out there they could be in line for some negligence claims. ..."

Not only that but (and you probably don't know this, there is a duty (possibly going as far as a statutory duty which again you probably can't appreciate effectively reverses the burden of proof if there is such), to properly consider and exhaust existing BTE Insurance (thus effectively acting as a claims handler for the Market Capture Insurance Industry)....

"....Nice to see DC and RG jumping in again. If only they actually did the work. ..."

We were only saying our selves at the Black Tulip. You should have been there. It was an excellent evening. Here, for your diary for next time:
