I couldn't read the whole of your reply, because let's be honest I know what it is going to say. We've all read the same response ad nauseum. I respect your experience, yes I understand you come from a better time. BUT, times change, in 1984 solicitors did not charge hourly rates they do now, but they also did not have restrictions, constrictions, hurdles, rules regulations choking them to death. They had lower premiums to pay, lower wages to pay, lower rent to pay and everything cost much much less. They also had access to a vast amount of monetary support such as legal aid. As these utilities necessary to the profession have been widdled down, the bills have gone up. It is just common sense.

What irks me about the things you say is, such rethoric is very damaging to not only the profession the way it stands but also to the professionals who stand with it. Also you have this thing about ethical this and ethical that. Seriously, if a plumber came to fix your toilet and found the problem to be much worse than he expected and instead of a few hours spent a few days on the issue, would you say he were being unethical charging you more? Afterall, you only poop in that toilet right? It's not like brain surgery goes occurs on there.

This ill-logic about ethics is laughable, and only rears it's ugly head when you're not directly affected by the issue at hand. It's easy to be detahced from something and put on the messiah complex hat. For God's sake, from the outside sure the bill reads as the worst thing ever, but did you ever stop tpo imagine the possibility this bill wasn't just pulled out from someone's behind and that they'd have records on their computer systems which said how long was spent on what letter sent to the other side when, where and about what? Someone made of flesh and blood had to sit there doing that work. A real person who is not doing it because he's a jesus figure like you, but because he is trying to put food on the plate and people like you and this judge dont give a damn about it. Yet you'd probably go on a rant about poor little africa at every chance you got.
