I am sure it happens a lot of the time, Rayner. You only need to compare the regular cost of car hire with the price charged when there is an insurance claim in the background. QED (quod erat demonstrandum just to remind myself what those three letters stand for)there is no need for a referral fee at all...

The problem with all this PI exaggeration and even falsification, and clin. neg. horror stories, and now it is moving into solicitors PII claims, (see the Mishcon and Cripps Harries LLP, (shame on you AGAIN! Burges Salmon)) is that a few black sheep (is that still PC?) are spoiling things for the other 90+% of competent, honest and honourable practitioners working hard for a reasonable, but not excessive living. But, they make the news, not the other 90+%, and it is up to the latter to expose the former as only they can know who they are.

Otherwise, I'm afraid, its a question of all being tarred with the same brush. And we shall all sink under the cost of PII premiums like soldiers in the mud of Passendaele in 1917. Did they really die so that we might live in this way? I can't really believe they did.
