You say that, but wasn't there a case last year where a 16 year old boy died and Apple refused his parents access to his account to recover family photos on his Iphone, saying they needed authority of the court? This was even though the parents had taken out a grant of representation and so had been appointed by a UK court as his legal representatives. It's clearly not straightforward and there should be some internationally recognized process or protocol to govern this area, which any provider should be obliged to follow.
