The P I lawyers have only themselves to blame. I was a passenger in a car driven by my husband which was involved in a "fender bender" a couple of years ago. The collision was no more than a graze and there was no way it could have caused a whiplash injury. Within 24 hours of exchanging phone numbers with the other driver I was besieged by a series of calls marked "private number" on my Pay & Go phone. I never answer calls of this nature and after about a month they ceased. The other driver, however, is claiming whiplash despite not seeing a doctor or taking any time off work. I am not far short of 70 and she was a 19 year old and it had no effect on either me or my husband.. The same thing happened to my daughter in law who took her foot off the brake causing her car to roll a foot or so into the car in front and the only thing that happened was that the number plate was dislodged (my son had the foresight to take photos). My granddaughter was asleep in the back and didn't even wake up. The other driver is now claiming whiplash! What is needed is a ban on both cold calling and contingency fees
