The first 90 or-so million will go straight to HMRC, thank you very much. Its probably not over-egging the pudding to suggest another 40-50m is Court fees (maybe a touch less to account for remissions).

A large proportion of that sum will be experts' fees, I would imagine perhaps as high as 25% to 1/3 given the cost of the type of experts, particularly if they are called to trial.

But even if you factor experts at in at just 15% (of the figure net of Court fees and VAT), I think the lawyers (counsel included) are actually starting to look like good value at just under 320m or less than 1/3 of damages.

The costs would plummet if as other commentators have suggested, the relevant bodies admitted early. I would only apply fixed fees to cases where liability and causation are both admitted within a fixed period from the LOC.
