Some of my good friends are accountants, but I find they sometimes are strangers to confidentiality, and often only have a limited understanding of conflicts of interest. Where they are authorised in probate matters, they understand the tax and arithmetical side, but have not the first clue of other, some would say, more important legal issues. Let those who want to practice law do so, and those who want to be accountants be that. Why does one want to be the other and vice versa?
Thank you Lord Chancellor, common sense over expediency has prevailed.
