As a layman, I think Alexander was an absolute idiot and should be struck off. I'd assumed he was a 'new boy', then find that he has 25 years in the job. In whatever capacity, I wouldn't have needed a penny even to wobble to know what the consequences for the woman would be.
I also think the firm should have been much more heavily penalised. It's just the situation that turns public opinion against solicitors - Oh, the firm's obviously holding on to both parties in the conflict just to make money. Again, I'm surprised that it should be allowed.
