The level of drivel of some of the contributors here is on a par with the chorus of idiots on Guido Fawkes, Anon @ 14:46 I am referring to you.

Insurers profits have been significant over the last few years, a quick google will reveal the results.

There are 26m cars, a few million bikes, quite a lot of lorries, the odd bus and a few other vehicles for which there is compulsory insurance.

The premium income is @£500 per vehicle some £15Bn. Are you suggesting that the cost of claims per year excluding income derived from non compulsory insurance.

According to the ABI the car insurers paid out £8bn in 2016 and of the income 54% of this was PI & Property damage or some £4bn in loose terms: in other words about 25% of the premium received.
