The Law Society are a very admirable body and are protecting the Solicitor. They are overwhelmingly concerned with their welfare and they are also at hand all the time to protect their interests. They for example are always litigating on their behalf. I have seen them taker on a myriad of these shoddy Employment, PPI, Car Hire and CMC Firms and their insurance scheme like the Bar Scheme is second to none and covers run off so that working does not become modern day slavery. They have an admirable appeal system in place so that their insurer - employers can be tackled over stitching up[ or putting out of business, High Street and Sole P's.

I cannot understand the way that they are always accused of being in bed and wedded to the Commercial Firms in London and their insurer and Government employers.

I cant understand how they got this bad reputation. The other day I was in my local Law Society talking shop cum 'conference' put on free of charge by Insurer Costs 'Providers (for larger firms). I was amazed at how understanding they were of local concerns. I was amazed at how much pro bono work they were doing an commissioning amongst those forms already without any fee income.

I think they are pretty damn amazing.

And when a colleague of mine tried to get PII and they acted as a cartel to prevent it I think this was a excellent demonstration of how they protect the access to Justice and Rule of Law for the citizen. I know that the most disadvantaged in society dont really want to have all the stress and worry of being protected by the Rule of Law. They want mediation arranged by MDP's and LDP's owned by large firms and Insurers. That way they get the 'knowledge' of the right people in society in arranging any settlement they do get.

I think that the way they have ensured also that High Street Medical Practitioners have not been squeezed out of practice there by shoddy claims handlers , by ensuring that maintenance and champerty are clearly in place to prevent crooked medical negligence claims and the upping of their insurance premiums is admirable.

I also think that the way that they have opened up legal teaching of the 'practice ' 'exams' as well is outstanding. When you think that they have ensured that unqualified and inexperienced 'teachers' of the professional exams are kept out of uneeeeees and there is a very struct benchmark modulated exams regime is also very noteworthy.

You couldn't have a better Professional body IMHO.
