I think you may be mistaken. Most of the guitars are electro-acoustic; you can tell because they have leads attached. Those leads are taking signal from the pickups to be amplified. There are photos of guitars taken from a perspective at which you cannot tell whether leads are attached or not, however in those cases there are no microphones anywhere near the sound hole such as you would use when mic'ing an acoustic instrument, making me suspect that they aren't acoustic either.
