2) LiPs should use a lawyer.

I personally can't see any justification for forcing anybody to use a lawyer. Especially since legal aid doesn't exist for all practical purposes. Why?

People (on other articles) talk about doing your own plumbing / brain surgery, etc. The comparison to life or death medical intervention such as brain surgery that people often make is facetious and insulting. Last time I checked, nobody was going to die if an Application Notice N244 was filled in incorrectly.

But what is wrong with doing your own plumbing if you wish? Sure, if I change my toilet siphon, or install a shower, there is a risk it may leak. But that would be due to some manifest, physical error. And that error can be corrected.

Nobody is going to leap out from behind the bathroom and say "ha ha! You've tried to put PTFE tape on a flexible tap connector which is banned! Your water supply is henceforth 'struck out' and you can't wash for the next three years!"

I hope my own value as a lawyer is slightly more than being able to post forms in the right manner, and would not rely on LiPs not being able to do that as being a justification as Anon@13:36 says.
