High Street Firms are very high risk.

I have just spoken to an aggrieved ex-client of a Legal Aid lawyer. The Barrister turned up in Court at the last moment as usual and was faced with a plea for drink driving. There exacerbating circumstances are that the subject of the phone call hit a motorcyclist whilst about three quarters over the limit (put in its context which I doubt the Barrister could understand to put to the Court), that is about 3 pints at 2.5 until not 1 and a quarter.

They allowed the CPS to introduce all sorts of irrelevancies like the fact she was at fault when the motorcyclist was speeding and had been overtaking before they hit the person (appeal points but hey so what not on the private purse or legal aid ticket and not most certainly when the Legal Aid brief has gone along with the prosecution).

Now she looks likely to lose her house (as the insurers will refuse to pay over £500k damages claimed after the event).

An agreed statement of facts might be something she needed ........
