To quote Del Trotter, "there's none so blind as them as what won't listen".

Sadly, Jackson appears to have considered any opposition to his reforms to be undue criticism rather than a genuine expression of warranted frustration.

For all of the positives (and yes, there were positives to elements of the reforms), some idealistic ideas were pushed to the fore where, frankly, the old ways worked better in practice. That said, Jackson was not in practice so gave no heed to such banal concerns.
