Humanity possibly, but certainly not logic or justice. That would only follow if unmarried had also been enshrined in the Act and I wasn't because then you could end up giving entitlements to two siblings or two friends (and then presumably that would breach the human rights of the single trans parent and so on).

Preach humanity or canvass for it and win an election and then change the law, but don't try to shoe-horn everything which was never intended in a vague notion of the rights of others.
