Everyone seems to be knocking the coop. Yes the group had its issues like many others, yet it has turned a corner. The coop give back to its members and local communities under the 5% customer 1% local causes. In response to the reply taking about the job role of a person delivering on its later life products and services, what else would you call that job other than it's a sales job as they are offering a product or service which a consumer may or may not take up. As for OTE you say yourself that it was many years ago showing that impressive OTE, from what I understand now is that all their consultants are salary based but I'm sure they still have targets like in MOST businesses, the company has to ensure it meets its obligations to employees, suppliers, consumers, investment in to future plans and so on, how do they do this? Simple they set targets which they have based their strategy on.

Probate, estate planning (Wills, Funeral Plans etc) are an industry that in most cases is a need not a want market, people in some cases need to do probate, the choice they have is DIY (if they are competent to do so, so they don't fall foul of the law in some cases), use a professional (either a company that does this kind of work, a solicitor or similar professions) costs are varied dependent on work needed, whether they need a full service or just help with the legalities around tax etc. It's the same with Wills you either do one yourself or use a professional or don't make one, issues around this are doing your own will is fine if straightforward but if it is complex use a professional, not making one can in many cases mean people inherit where the person may not have wanted them too and vice versa others not entitled to inherit where a will does not exist. Funeral plans are similar, we all will die and need a funeral, do we buy a plan now and save our families potential problems in the future with costs rising, or do nothing and let our heirs deal with it at a difficult time.

So why knock the coop for providing products and services to the public, when it is solely in the consumers right to decide whether they take it or not. Remember the coop is owned by the public and has always been owned by its members for over 170 years.

How is what they are doing any different to petrol stations offering fuel for Sale and inside the shelves packed with other stuff for your car and drinks etc?? If we drive we need fuel, it's up to us if we want to buy it and if we don't then we run out of fuel simple.

Later life planning is the same coop offer the services and the products and the consumer decides whether they wish to use them, and I'm sorry but those people that provide the information and explanation of these services may be called consultants, but yes technically they are sales people as they essentially sell the product, IF the consumer wishes to buy that product.
