Anon @ 10:22, if that is the case why do the majority of solicitors refuse to fix their costs for probate? Why not give customers a set cost, why does it have to be per hour or a % of the estate, if you believe it's a lot of low level work. Surely probate is the same, the same forms, the same costs for putting them into court. So how do you not know what it is going to cost.

Be honest for many solicitors probate is an easy way to make MONEY. I'm not saying all 186,500 solicitors are the same I'm saying a lot of solicitors use probate as a way to make easy money, just like banks do.
