Anon at 13:19 - quite so - the idea is to constrain fees thus discouraging solicitor from paying to take the work on, either because they can't afford it or possibly think more carefully about taking it on - that will affect both fraudulent and genuine claims. The fact that you think the system works in some other way is not really relevant - it simply means that you have a different view which may be wrong.

It isn't really an excuse for being rude (it isn't "ridiculous" to disagree with your point of view) to say that you have worked with me in the past. It is still unnecessarily offensive.
