The separate professions have worked well enough for quite some time now, and it’s always unwise to make unnecessary changes in a crises. The issue of separation or fusion is likely to be a welcome distraction for a government that sees lawyers as an unmitigated nuisance.
By all means let us work together in a variety of different ways to achieve a healthy co-operation; but this is not the time to become lost in our own version of Brexit.
