Meanwhile, and somewhat off-topic, next year's compensation fund payment is to be doubled without warning. For the life of me I cannot understand why it is a flat rate contribution regardless of a firm's size or turnover or the ratio of partners to other staff (or indeed whether the bookkeeper or some paralegal is let loose with the client account chequebook) , nor why there is an additional contribution (also to be increased) from partners but no contribution from other practising solicitors.

Why does the Law Society not get a grip instead of meekly accepting this?
