Someone in the Police phones a contact at the BBC and tells them that someone's house is going to be raided. The subject of the raid hasn't been charged, and indeed, the Police are conducting raid to secure evidence and with a suitable warrant. What are journalists doing there at all? If the Police issue a public appeal for evidence before charge or indeed after doing so then there might be justification for involving the media. Not otherwise. I don't know whether money changed hands, but that is a common reason for media involvement. The Police and the Media think that they can do what they like. It is the Judiciary's job to explain to them that they can't. That's what happened here. I'm sick to death of the press weeping in their triple vodka's that public scrutiny is being damaged. Yes. it is, by their actions.
