I agree about the BTE market.
Those providers have stitched up the market by refusing to allow a Claimant to choose his own solicitor (until the stage is reached of issuing proceedings). I can't imagine any client working with the pet panel firm of a BTE company and then switching horses to his/her first choice when it comes subsequently to issue proceedings.
There must also be some financial incentive for the BTE company to refer to its pet panel (as they don't do it out of the goodness of their own heart) and that being so (in my experience) a lot of the "handlers" at those panel firms are junior and don't have much experience.
Client loses out both ways.
