What I find most obscene is that the SRA can rack up £300K costs and expect a proportion of these to be paid by a solicitor who denied misconduct, was acquitted of this charge by the SDT and made subject to no sanction. If I were her I'd be giving serious consideration to appealling an order which, vis à vis her, appears to be outrageous. Orders of this nature give the SRA no incentive to exercise judgment or to behave appropriately and proportionately - because they know they are going to get there costs however they behave. In the context of this case, that has to be the most exquisite irony!
