Your comparison is entirely false.

In Darnley, the receptionist was not required to explain the ins and outs of treatment for a head injury. She was required to know the length of the queue.

You can't seriously be suggesting that legal receptionists are expected to have a reasonable working knowledge of the limitation act, such as to fix them with a duty of care?
