@ 6 November 13:13 makes some powerful points. Almost as many posts here as the SRA received consultation responses! But then like all online posts, and the LSG is no different, many people post without really knowing the details about which they're posting. Solicitors should know better. At first blush (and I know I am not fully informed) it seems to me a simplification of SRA regulation directed at a small category of freelancers. They'll still need insurance. It will introduce more competition and clients will have to be fully informed. It'll add options in some practice areas for in house counsel when seeking specialised advice. And probably some price competition for small practices. Let's face it, law is a highly competitive market already. There are far too many firms in the UK. This will have a further consolidating effect.
