It's already happening in the United States, so its only a matter of time before it comes here. I imagine a report created by a algorithm will be faster and cheaper than one prepared by a breathing probation officer - no more need to wait for a stand down report for an anticipated guilty plea.

Most of it is already in place. Clients will be arrested and interviewed at the police station. With all digital evidence served on the first appearance an immediate guilty plea can be taken while they appear on video link, having received advice from the duty solicitor. With this final step - a report produced by algorithm from the information available about the offence, the offender and the sentencing guidelines - the court can go straight to sentence. No need for a real court room, as, apart from the bench making the decision, no-one else will be in the 'court'.

Real speedy summary justice in the blink of an eye.
