Probably going against the grain, but my experience is that whilst preparing a costs budget is a nightmarish exercise at the best of times, some semblance of certainty as to the opponent's recoverable costs is a very good thing.

Clients want to know their potential exposure and it takes away the guessing game. I always thought broad brush estimates were an unsatisfactory response when a client's house/assets were on the line.
