Despite what some of our "Christian" MPs espouse (Mr Rees Mogg, I'm looking at you), I agree with the sentiments attributed to the great Clement Attlee:

Charity is a cold grey loveless thing. If a rich man wants to help the poor, he should pay his taxes gladly, not dole out money at a whim.
