Liberty's objection appears to relate to the far-reaching consequences, and the potential for future abuse. As I said, I agree with Liberty on this one. The conscientious objectors should the earlier article setting out how this tech is misused in the USA.

Past offending is no guarantee of future offending.
What is the recidivism rate once individuals pass the age of 27? Exceptionally low (I believe).

The idea that these programs can be utilised to judge the psychological intentions (per the US) is frankly, ridiculous. Humans aren't machines. Yes there are patterns to behaviour and also trends (when gangs focus on one area) but what if those gangs target another area, but "computer says no" ?
