anon @ 7.50 - that is the possible effect, though personally I think it's more likely that actual human beings will not turn out to be the absolute paragons of virtue that you and the SRA/SDT seem to think they have to be. I think it's far more likely that someone in Ms Scott's position, who has sensibly got themselves out of the offending firm, would decide not to *voluntarily* raise the issue with the SRA as Ms Scott did.

Personally, I do not think anyone can genuinely say what they would have as a trainee unless they have actually been put in that position by their boss at such an early part of their career.

On the SRA's argument, it would not have been enough for Ms Scott to simply refuse to follow the partner's instructions. She should have immediately reported him to the SRA. That is a huge step for a trainee to take.
