Working together, the Police, IFB, ABI, Insurers, Loss adjusters & many other organisations invest millions a year in creating or participating in counter fraud measures, ranging from non-disclosure fraud at the point of quote stage to the organised and sophisticated claims PI fraud gangs. Through these measures, they have been able to make significant and measurable progress in these areas resulting in many convictions of people who pose a genuine threat to road users and the wider public – I don’t think many can disagree with that.

By comparison, to identify and prevent fraud, solicitors have done…?

From the public view point (in this specific area of insurance) insurers are making an effort, and solicitors are helping the fraudsters make their claims.

PI is not an area I have specialise in, but is anyone really surprised with this outcome? The innocent claimant will pay the price for solicitor’s indolence. I even get frustrated when PI firms yell “What about the innocent claimant!?” – If they really cared, why did they let things get this bad and do nothing?

And counter to what many might be expecting, I am not the insurance man and I don’t work with insurers.
