Also, have you actually read the Consumer Code? Section 2.5 advises the developer that they must advise buyers to choose an independent legal advisor to look after their interests in all aspects of the transaction. Whilst developers may offer incentives to use a particular financial / legal advisor, they cannot restrict the buyer's choice of advisor. The buyer is therefore free to choose whoever they wish, and many actually do go with a non-recommended conveyancer.
