I sometimes wonder what planet these guys are on. The regulator exists to protect the public. Some of its decisions recently coupled with the the actions of the SDT have been - to say the least - highly questionable and when challenged they have been unable to show how their decisions fulfil that purpose. In fact some recent decisions have objectively left the public more at risk. Their credibility is therefore somewhat 'dented'. Disciplining more solicitors neither improves regulation nor protects the public, all it does is give the impression to the public that the regulator is strong and effective. This is merely the sacrifice of individual solicitors on the alter of repairing the credibility of the regulator. This is very sad.
