It is unpleasant. Yet the "problems" in low value PI are common in other sectors. Considering referral fees, backhanders, overcharging and so on.

But remember this, in every other sector there are decent solicitors doing a decent job without resorting to shenanigans just to reach their billable hours/fees targets. Just like in PI.

I sometimes wonder if the person who came up with the inspired phrase "compensation culture" (spoiler alert - there isn't one) ever made a claim.
