Always seemed odd the position with Manchester. Liverpool meanwhile keeps its own, St Helens and Birkenhead, losing only Southport and Warrington/Runcorn locally, however some of the latter also now end up in Manchester. The Manchester situation was probably caused by it being a white elephant for many years after opening with nobody using it and a need to justify its existence / save costs.
