I worked with a lot of insurers around fraudulent claims and some cases are hilarious in their stupidity;
- A woman unable to work from injuries incurred in an RTA, but bungee jumped on a daytime TV show.
- A man who couldn’t leave the house from injuries incurred in an RTA, but featured in the local rag for winning two strong man competitions in one month.
- A woman who was wearing the jewellery she claimed was stolen in a robbery, while talking to the loss adjuster.
- A man who crashed his car whilst drunk, then called the police to report it stolen, while he was still with the car being recorded on CCTV from the police station he’d crashed outside of.
- A man who tried to make 7 PI claims for people in his 5 seater vehicle.
- A woman who tried to sue for emotional distress and invasion of privacy when they were filmed playing tennis, despite a knee injury after a slip at work.
- A travel insurance claim, where the woman’s luggage (purported to contain £15,000 worth of jewellery from her wedding in India) was found empty and sealed in unclaimed luggage.
