Former Law Society president and lord mayor Fiona Woolf, Sir Geoffrey Bindman QC and Royal Dutch Shell’s legal director Donny Ching are among the judges for this year’s Law Society Excellence Awards.

Law Society president Andrew Caplen said: ‘The Law Society Excellence Awards celebrate the experience, wisdom, extraordinary hard work and innovation of our members.

‘Our legal system is considered the best in the world and sets an example internationally. The high calibre of nominations reflects this, as does the diverse panel judging them.’

Also on the judging panel are: Dame Janet Gaymer, chair of the management board, House of Commons; Ben Emmerson QC, Matrix Chambers; Gazette columnist Joshua Rozenberg; Penelope Warne, senior partner, CMS Cameron McKenna; Suzanne Fine, director of professional development, Lex Mundi; and Sir Gary Hickinbottom, justice of the High Court and honorary president of the Solicitors’ Association of Higher Courts Advocates.
