Kind of adding to our canon of lawyers with musical claims to fame are Eddie Voller and Alan Knight, two lawyers at south-coast firm Warner Goodman & Streat now better know as, erm, The Clean Briefs (we'll forgive them this time as the whole stunt's for charity). The firm has funded the pair in releasing 500 CD singles of 'Everywhere that I look' in aid of the BBC Daisy Appeal.
The single received its first play recently on the BBC Radio Solent breakfast show with Julian Clegg and also featured on 'BBC South Today'. Mr Voller says: 'We wanted to raise money for the BBC Daisy Appeal and I had this song which I thought was quite appropriate for people who may have lost a loved one to cancer (the appeal is supporting the Wessex Cancer Trust). BBC Radio Solent got us on air with it and the firm has backed us all the way.'
Julian Clegg joined them at signing sessions outside the firm's offices, and more than £600 was raised on the day of the launch. They hope to raise around £2,500, augmented by a Clean Briefs charity gig next month. For a copy of the single, call the BBC Daisy Appeal hotline, tel: 08000 680 133.
