Significant developments in a key lawsuit in Nebraska in the US, according to the Associated Press (AP). Last week, state senator Ernie Chambers of Omaha, the state's longest-serving senator and an agnostic, filed a lawsuit against God. Mr Chambers said in his lawsuit, according to the newswire, that God had made 'terroristic threats against him and his constituents, inspired fear and caused "widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants".' Now AP reports that Douglas County District Court has received a response, signed by God, which the clerk to the court said 'miraculously appeared on the counter'. The response argues that the defendant is immune from some earthly laws and - surprise, surprise - the court lacks jurisdiction. St Michael the Archangel is listed as a witness as well. Meanwhile, AP says Mr Chambers insists his lawsuit is serious, and makes the point that anyone can sue anyone.
