As one football season ends, clubs, players and supporters are already turning their minds to the next. To sponsorship deals, especially. In the Premier League, Manchester United are sponsored by insurers AIG, Arsenal by Emirates airlines, and Spurs by casino and poker website Mansion.com. In the Kent County League, Canterbury City FC last week announced a four-year sponsorship deal with local solicitors firm Robinsons.
Robinsons has sponsored the team’s website since 2008, but now becomes its official sponsor as well. Canterbury City was re-formed two years ago as a community interest company. It has more than 250 players in men’s, ladies’, juniors and special needs teams, and its men’s first team plays in the Premier Division: Kent County Premier Division. Robinsons partner Tim Clark says he and fellow partner Sandra Worth missed only two home games between them in the last season. ‘It has become quite addictive, but a very enjoyable partnership with the club.’
