The National Pro Bono Centre in Australia recently held a competition to find a collective noun for a group of pro bono solicitors, according to the journal of the Law Society of New South Wales.

Apparently, the suggestions included 13 gaggles and 14 prides, six murders, five posses and several U2s. Others ranged from the positive - an optimism, an altruism, a symphony, an aspiration and an irresistible force - to the negative, including an improbability, a drought and a pittance. Some were too cheesy for Obiter's liking - a cuddle, a generosity, a smiley and a godsend.

The winners, chosen by the centre, were a paragon, an altruism, a wig ('warm inner glow'), a dispauperment and a symphony. Can you do better? Email gazette-editorial@lawsociety.org.uk.
